Prior to returning to Tulsa to help establish the partnership between the Tulsa Flyer and Oklahoma’s historic Black-owned newspaper, Gary worked at Time Magazine as a foreign correspondent based in Germany, reporting on central Europe. He served as the chief of The Washington Post’s Moscow bureau covering the Soviet Union, and later reported on national security, social issues and the environment in Washington, D.C. Now, Gary leads Tulsa’s first nonprofit, community-driven newsroom while helping sustain the legacy of The Oklahoma Eagle.
