The “Cry Baby Cry” roadside attraction is on its way to Tulsa but won’t go on display any time soon.
At the Oct. 20 Tulsa Arts Commission meeting, members confirmed the statue was shipped from overseas and will remain offsite until a final location is approved. The project is currently moving through legal review due to its designation as public art.
Originally announced in August 2024, “Cry Baby Cry” was originally planned for Cry Baby Hill near Riverside Drive and Lawton Avenue as a tribute to the neighborhood that hosts the final day of Tulsa Tough bicycle racing every June. In July, the Tulsa World reported the statue would find a new home.
According to the commission, the property owner plans to include the piece as part of a future development, though details remain under wraps. The installation will be publicly viewable but located on private property.
