Tulsa’s anticipating thousands of road junkies and tourists alike for this year’s Route 66 centennial celebrations. Even though the city takes up a small stretch of the Mother Road, Tulsa is the Capital of Route 66 and has over 50 restaurants for you to make a pit stop.

Going from east to west, here’s where you can dine along the Mother Road.

Mazzio’s Pizza & Wings

With a couple of locations on Route 66, Mazzio’s Pizza & Wings is one of Tulsa’s original pizza chains. You can dine in at their shop on South Garnett Road and enjoy a salad bar or weekday lunch buffet. Grab a slice of pepperoni with their homemade ranch dressing for a quite classic meal. Their other Mother Road location is at 3024 E. 11th St. 

Molcajetes Restaurant

One of Tulsa’s most iconic food halls, Mother Road Market has a variety of food options for you to choose from. From tacos to sushi to cajun to barbecue — there’s something for everyone. It opened in 2018 as an initiative of the Lobeck Taylor Family Foundation. 

  • & Tacos serves traditional Mexican street tacos. You can grab five for $12.99.
  • Sample dishes from west Africa at Afrikan Delights. A meat and side is $17.99.
  • Akira Sushi & Ramen has a variety of rolls. Choose two for $14. 
  • A local chain, Big Dipper Creamery has classic flavors as well as rotating specialties.
  • Using the bowl as its signature base, Bodhi’s Bowl offers all kinds of global flavors.
  • Chicken and the Wolf has its second of three locations at Mother Road Market.

  • Kitchen 66 Takeover Cafe has a new menu each day to support local small businesses.

Arnold’s is one of Tulsa’s favorite old-fashion burger stops. Keep it simple with a cherry limeade, single or double cheeseburger and some fries. Add an oreo malt for dessert if you’re chasing a sweet treat. It’s been around since 1986 and still has the good ‘ol neon signs inside.

If you’re looking for a food truck stop, you’re in luck on the Mother Road. Super Tacos El Chihuas, Pollos asados a la leña, Taqueria El Tapatio and Taqueria Express #3 are all serving up fresh tacos, tortas and other Mexican staples. 

Look out for Zo Sushi & Fusion at 3616 E. 11th St. and the new location for Wildflower Cafe and Catering. There’s also The Helen going in at the former Wildflower Cafe location at the corner of 11th and Peoria. They will be open soon.
